This week marks an exciting milestone in Thumbtack history – the opening of our Utah office. We’re building an exceptional Customer Support team in this new location so we can provide the most encouraging, dependable and helpful experience for our customers and professionals.
It’s been a fast-paced, fun-filled couple of months to prepare for this launch. We’ve screened thousands of resumes, interviewed almost 100 applicants, and so far, hired 27 fantastic people to get us started. We’re looking to hire another 50 Customer Support team members before the end of the month, when we’ll start recruiting for our Utah-based Inside Sales team. Our first class of hires has already shown us that they are truly first class. We started onboarding on Monday and it’s clear that the group is full of passion and energy for our business. Each one of them has impressive experience, drive and a deep desire to take Thumbtack’s Customer Support to the next level. Under the strong leadership of James Hwang, previously VP of Operations for Grubhub/ Seamless, we will hire at least 200 people this year in Sandy.
Why did we choose Utah? Sandy is already a mecca for customer support and sales. The ability to tap into a high quality talent pool means that we can have very high standards, but still hire fast. We also love the people here – they are kind, patient, helpful and reliable – exactly the sort of qualities that we want our customers to enjoy when they contact us. We are also excited to open our first office outside of San Francisco because Utah ranked number 1 in our Small Business Friendliness Survey in 2013. The most small business friendly state + super-helpful people + lots of experienced local talent = the best place in the country to build a Customer Support team.
When you look out the floor-to-ceiling windows of our new office, you see majestic mountains on all sides. It’s an inspiring place to work. We’re excited to create an environment where our team is inspired every day so they can inspire our customers to complete personal projects that are central to their lives and empower professionals to grow their businesses.
