Two months ago we announced Laszlo Bock, the former Senior Vice President of People Operations at Google, was joining Thumbtack as a strategic advisor. Laszlo has incredible people and company building expertise and has been spending one day/week with us. Laszlo will continue supporting us in this capacity as an advisor.
At the same time, we’ve also been searching for a Vice President of People who will lead both our HR and Recruiting teams. Over the last year, we’ve met with every kind of candidate, from seasoned executives at public companies to rising stars at small startups, and everything in between. We knew just how important this position would be as Thumbtack scales and we wanted to put a lot of time and sweat into getting it right.
So it is with special excitement that I announce the most recent addition to our leadership team: Thumbtack’s Vice President of People, Justin Angsuwat!
Justin is joining Thumbtack from Google’s People Operations team, where he was a rising star. He studied computer science at the University of Melbourne and started his career as the Chief of Staff to the head of HR for a 40,000+ person media-communications company in Australia. Justin then moved to New York to be a strategy consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he worked with Fortune 50 companies (and the United Nations) on their recruiting and people strategies. He’s spent the last three years at Google, most recently running HR for Google’s Go-to-Market teams.
We couldn’t have found a better fit for Thumbtack’s culture. Justin is empathetic, thoughtful, and has an energy and enthusiasm that is contagious.
Over the last three years Thumbtack has grown from 50 to 500+ team members in the US. But we’re just getting started. We’ve only scratched the surface in terms of the product we want to build and the impact we want to have. That means we will continue to scale our team and continue to invest in building a culture where every person can reach their potential. And that’s why we are so thrilled to have Justin joining us to help us chase this big dream.
